OF THE PLAIN VIEW HERITAGE CENTER:

I got your birthday card away in such a hurry that I didn't get to write anything. How are y ou these days and your big family. Suppose you have a lot to do, but your Aunty would like very much to get a line or two from you. Life is so short and Aunty is getting old (73). The young can die but the old must.
A while back I got a box from St. Cloud, Minn. By opening it found a man's dirty clothes. I found a slip on the bottom with Ginther written on it. I washed and ironed it. About 6 weeks after that I got a letter from Darrell asking for things to eat that he did not get there. I sent him a big box, hope he got it.
Oh, I feel so sorry for that poor boy, but I suppose he just couldn't help doing the things he did. he told me to send his clothes to Myrtle, and I did. Can you remember that poem you wrote down at my house after Bob had died?
"Things just don't happen to us that love God,
to us who have taken our stand;
no matter the lot, the course or the price,
things just don't happen, they're planned."
I am praying for you and God carry your burden. He has promised and he allways does what he has promised [always is underlined].
I am feeling pretty good living alone with the Lord--we have wonderful times together. Lots of love from your Aunty Kathrine
Birthday card:
Aunty Tena writes on it:
May your Birthday path lead through gardens of cheer,
Where you will spend a glad and a delightful year.
With the sunshine of heaven lighten up your way,
and the Blessing of God crowning every day.
Never shift your mouth into gear untill you are sure all the faculties of your mind are under divine control.
When you have Christ in your heart you can't lock hinm in and keep him just for yourself--He will shine out to others.
Yes, every day with Jesus make the days just right. With love Aunty Tena
Letter on back of card:
My dear Pearl,
Thanks for the card I just got in the mail. I just had sent one to Bryant so I could get to know where you were. I had heard you had sold the farm and so I thot maybe you were here now. I wanted you to know that I remembered your birthday and wanted it to arrive time for the 13th of Sep. I am so glad that you are well and like it alot there but I sure miss you. It seems like you are my own and I allways have felt that you loved me. You surely have showed it in so many ways. The Academy is filled and crowded with students. We have a wonderfull president and we love him. He is a humble christian, a good worker. Tonight is the opening of the school year at the AA. We have had Rev. Carlson for our pastor during our pastor's vacation [at Canton Lutheran church]. name is Erikson. We have had our church at the Gym. While remodeling our church, getting ready for the 80th anniversary. I am feeling pretty good now, but Aunty is getting old, so I have to go more slow. I don't go out evenings, so I don't get to prayer meeting very often--just when I can be sure of a ride. I don't know yet if I am going west to see the boys this winter. I am praying about it. I didn't get to see your boys, they were at Ginthers that week I was up there. Now may be the Lord be with you and yours all the days. Then we do not worry. Aunty Tena. I send you a small gift, excuse me.
