My Dear Mama
I thank God daily that you know Jesus as your Savior. Also that you know how to pray and cry out to Him like David did so many times. David didn’t understand at all times how God was working in his life but he trusted God all the way. You trust the Lord too, Mama, even though you don’t understand all the things you are going through. Isn’t That right?
Jesus said, “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me to preach good news to the meek, to bind up the brokenhearted, to announce liberty to the captives and to open the eyes of the blind. To give them (and you, Mama) beauty for ashes, the oil of JOY for crying, the garment of PRAISE for the spirit of heaviness that you (Mama) might be called a tree of righteousness planted by the Lord, that Jesus might be glorified” (Isa.. 51: 1,3)
Mama, do you know what gives me much joy and brings praise out of my mouth? It’s when I read in Rom. 21, 22, 23 “God has shown us a different way to Heaven—not by being good enough and trying to keep His laws (though not new, really, for the scripture told about it long ago).
Now God says He will accept and acquit us—declare us “not guilty” if we trust Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we all can be saved in this same way, by coming to Christ no matter who we are or what we have been like, v. 23.
Yes, all have sinned; all fall short of God’s glorious ideal; yet now God declares us “not guilty” of offending Him if we trust in Jesus Christ, who in His kindness freely takes away our sins, v. 25, For God sent Christ Jesus to take the punishment for our sins and to end all God’s anger against us. He used Christ’s blood and our faith as the means of saving us from wrath, v. 27.
Then what can we boast about doing to earn our Salvation? NOTHING AT ALL. Why? Because our acquittal is not based on our good deeds; it is based on what Christ has done and our faith in Him, v. 28. So it is that we are saved by faith in Christ and not in the good things we do.” V. 31.
Well then if we are saved does this mean that we no longer need to obey God’s laws? Just the opposite! In fact only when we trust Jesus can we truly obey Him...
