PEARL’S NOTES

The following notes were apparently for a talk Pearl Ginther gave to

A group at church or at any of her various groups she

Was a part of—for she gave of herself to many worthwhile groups

And ministries during her long lifetime of over 100 years.   Her themes here in

 her talk were really

Her  main  life themes—

brothers a Christian education,

·        How she enjoyed her work as a cook in order to

to support her family,  her assurance of salvation, how  faith

is the key to a good life,

·        How positive thoughts are much better for us than negative

Ones,  and the scriptures promise that we will be blessed when we are

giving generously to God’s work.

                        Pearl’s bio  in a Nutshell

I was born in a family of nine,  7 sisters and 2 brothers.  I

had Christian parents.  We lived at Bryant, SD.  My

parents sent all nine of us to Canton Academy [a Christian

private school).  I worked

In Sioux Falls, and married during the Depression in 1934.

In l942 we moved to Puyallup.  I was blessed with 8 children.

Twenty-eight years I worked as a cook in nursing homes and Bible camps, and enjoyed it.

                              Salvation

A friend asked if I were saved.  John 15: 7 came clear to me—“If you abide in Me,

and My words abide in you, you shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.”

                              On Faith

Faith is NOT something you get, it’s something you already have and something you must use.

“Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.”

Even the Apostles approached Jesus and said, “We need more faith, tell us how to get it.”

Hebrews 11:1, “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen.”

Romans 12: 3:  “God has dealt to every man the measure of faith.”

Sometimes we hear only with our ears, not with our hearts—that is how faith comes.

                            Think Positive Thoughts

We’re not to have negative thoughts take over.  It can pull you down.  Negative thinking

and doubt tie the hands of Jesus.  Thinking positive thought, your faith releases Christ’s

power to meet your need in whatever—health, finances, giving.

                            A Faith-Challenging Experience

We took a trip back to South Dakota.  Bob bought a plane in Denver, and then took me and my

Youngest (1 ½ year old)  and flew to visit my sister and family in Waterloo (Myrtle and Bill Svanoe).

Esther and Oswald Hanson, of Frost, Minnesota, some of you knew [were next ones we flew to visit.].

Then on way back from Frost, Minnesota, heading for Blue Earth, we encountered gas leaking from

The right wing.   Not to my knowledge, he had a spare tank of 2 gallons.   I prayed.

He never found the leak.

                         Poem—“Living Faith

                              Doubt sees the obstacles.

                              Faith sees the way.

                              Doubt sees the darkest night.

                              Faith sees the day.

Doubt dreads to take one step.

                              Faith soars on high.

                              Doubt questions “who believes?”

                              Faith answers, “I!”

                                               Author Unknown

                        Fanny Crosby Story

[Not written down in her notes unfortunately!  But we know Fanny Crosby, who composed

hundreds, even thousands of hymns, many sung today all across the country, was blind, yet she

had faith to compose her songs despite that great handicap.   What could a blind girl

accomplish?  Well, she definitely proved that a blind girl, with faith, could accomplish much for God

and bless God’s people everywhere!]

                       Giving

Give, and God will return hundred-fold.  “Cast your bread upon the waters…”
